School Pipeline Safety Partnership

The Foundations School Pipeline Safety Partnership program, a joint effort with the Pipeline Association for Public Awareness, was established to boost awareness, improve emergency readiness, and strengthen prevention strategies for schools located in HCA’s (high consequence areas) nationwide, particularly those within 1,000 feet or within potential impact radius of a pipeline.

This initiative has evolved into the largest, most comprehensive, and longest-running school pipeline safety program of its kind in the United States, uncovering key strategies and valuable insights for successful collaboration with school administrators.

Operators enroll their high consequence area schools (HCA’s) in various outreach levels of the program. This multimedia outreach includes school and pipeline specific webpages, mailers, email campaigns, virtual and in-person school pipeline safety meetings, assessments and year-round support.

The Smalley Foundation’s extensive experience with this stakeholder group has established it as a leader in this field, offering valuable insights that help us stay ahead in discovering ways to improve school outreach and fortify relationships between schools and the industry, thereby setting benchmarks for best practices.

“The School Pipeline Safety Partnership is pivotal in enhancing public awareness for pipeline operators. Their commitment to education and engagement ensures vital pipeline safety information reaches schools near pipelines. By fostering a culture of safety and awareness, the Partnership significantly boosts the effectiveness of public awareness programs, making our communities safer and more informed.”
